Course 2 Summary and analysis
*COURSE 2:*
ππΌ *SILENCE*
*ANALYSIS AND SUMMARY:*
Silence is a moment/period when the body's organs for vocal communications are kept still for some higher reasons. Silence is one of the pillars of the Catholic Divine Project. There are many types of silence, but the Catholic Divine Project summarised all of them into three, namely:
ππΌ1. Silence of the heart.
ππΌ2. Silence of the muscle.
ππΌ3. Silence of the lips.
Silence can be beneficial in many ways which include:
1. Helps one to concentrate.
2. Helps one to be creative.
3. Helps one to achieve awareness.
4. It helps one to attain some level of calmness.
5. Helps to improve one's learning capacity.
6. Helps one to be productive.
7. It helps one develop patience.
Silence can also help in: lowering blood pressure, calming racing thoughts, etc.
In Catholic Divine Project, every member maintains at least *34 minutes silence everyday, while those in higher level (BDC) go with 64 minutes of silence everyday.* These silence is distributed into various hours of prayers during the day. Also, noteworthy are some celebrations of silence in CDP, namely:
ππΌ1. March 19th: CDP World Day of Silence.
ππΌ2. March 10-18: Power of Silence Novena.
ππΌ3. November 13-18: In the midst of Great Expectation Novena.
We have a number of Biblical testimonies on silence, some of which are: Ecclesiastes 3:7-8, Eph 4:26, Prov 17:28, Ps 141:3, etc.
Finally, we should know that SILENCE helps a soul to make serious spiritual progress and it is recommended more in this our NOISY world; coming through both physical and virtual means. Thus, Thomas Γ Kempis affirms: *“In SILENCE and SOLITUDE the devout soul advances in virtue and learns the hidden truths of Scripture. There she finds a flood of tears with which to bathe and cleanse herself nightly, that she may become the more intimate with her Creator the farther she withdraws from all the tumult of the world. For God and His holy angels will draw near to him who withdraws from friends and acquaintances"* (cf. My Imitation of Christ, chap. 20).
